I went on Etsy to look at all the lovely handmade fabrics and found that I wanted to post all of summersville, so the others will have to wait. Based out of the UK, she screenprints using water-based inks and sells fabric along with a handful of items she puts together with her designs.

I love, love these oil paintings by artist Kelly Neidig! Kelly’s simple, abstracted landscapes caught my eye the other day on Etsy and I was happy to see she lives in Portland too. I love the colors and simplicity of her work – they are so beautiful! See more at her website and her etsy shop.
Cheers,
Rachel

Here are some of my newest map paintings. I had them out to dry and loved how the red ones looked together! They are up on my website and slowly making their way onto etsy.
Happy Wednesday!

Since assuming the name ‘paperandplanes’ for our blog, we get a number of visitors interested in paper airplanes. So, for those confused how they ended up here and rarely see a paper airplane, here are some handcrafted items with paper airplane themes.

A simple and serene vinyl sticker from aOlive to start things off.

yellowgoat’s earrings are a find for the paper airplane lover.

QuietDoing’s makes some brilliant bags, wallets, cases, etc. This shiny red one fits the theme today.

Everything from barkingbirdart is cute, cute, cute!
And I almost resisted putting a painting of Rachel’s in here, but I love this new painting, Washoe, and had to include it here.

Today is absolutely lovely here in Portland. I really need to start gathering up paintings and supplies for my display for the Alberta Art Hop tomorrow. And it’s going to be even nicer Saturday for the show – hooray! Last year the temperature was in the 90’s – way too hot for me. I’ll be set up on 16th and Alberta and the show runs from 11 to 6 so stop on by if you are able. Lots and lots of vendors (they even shut down Alberta so you can walk in the street) and the event is free! I’ll be selling map paintings, notecards, map pendants, and other little lovelies. See you there!
Happy day,
Rachel
Hello, I’m here to show off these cute little button sets with mini images of Rachel’s paintings. We have had these little sets at a few recent craft shows and now plan to have them on the Etsy site! With about a dozen rotating images, there will be plenty of unique sets for every appetite. Ok, enough with the chatter… pictures are much nicer.

We’ve been working on archival, limited edition prints of my map paintings – and they are now finished! Hooray! I have fourteen designs – signed and numbered – that are slowing making their way onto Etsy today and tomorrow. The prints are $18 for a 8 x 10 with the image measuring 5 x 7 – so it looks terrific in a standard frame. The texture and details in the maps and paint still look amazing – it’s almost like you’re looking at an original!
I’m offering a discount for the month of May on these to you, my friendly blog readers – a 2 for $30 deal. Just purchase the prints you want on Etsy and write ‘2 for $30 blog deal’ in the message to seller – wait to pay – and I’ll send you an adjusted invoice.
Hooray!
Rachel

I just noticed that this post would be number 100! So… this isn’t a special post at all… but, 100 posts is momentous enough to merit its own special words, right?

For those in the Northwest who couldn’t make it to LA last week, Rachel has some more shows to round out May. Velouria, in Seattle, is showing a sweet, little collection of map paintings all month. They also house a beautiful collection of clothing and accessories from independent designers.

In Portland, Ristretto Roasters on Williams, provides an opportunity to see some oil paintings (we’ll post soon about the new oils) and next Saturday is the Alberta Art Hop, where Rachel will be out all day – though without a pregnant belly and hopefully not in 100 degree heat this year.
