This is a behind the scenes look at the husband-wife team of Jon and Rachel Austin. Rachel is a full time artist (rachelannaustin.com) and is constantly creating things and sometimes inspires Jon to make a few things as well. He also is lucky to work at home with Rachel helping take care of some of the more business-y aspects of creating and selling things. We hope to share things that inspire us to create, about happenings we might know about and stuff we are working on.

Hi Rachel and Jon,
Interior designer here, doing a dental office in San Francisco and the idea of commissioning you to do a few map paintings sounds so good; I will meet with the client next week and see if she has certain places she would like as the background map, I can give you the color schemes and the direction of some of your map work that I am drawn to; can you give me an idea of how you work and how commissioned pieces are priced?
please feel free to reply to my email at jana@janassociates.com
thanks and good luck with your baby; we have two under 3 (not twins) and it does change your live in such a glorious way.
warm regards,
jana

Hi – I think it is so great that you are doing this together. My husband and I are both artists – and hopefully we will get it all together enough one day to live out our dreams as you are!
I wish you all the best with the birth of your daughter!
All the best,
Stephanie

Hi Rachel,
Your work is crazy good! I am in Prov.RI checking out the Open Market site for this year and saw your paintings you sold there in 08 and just wanted to say how much I like them. I’m wicked picky, too!!
Cheers,
Colleen

Hi Rachel, I love your work and just finished reading the Etsy: Storque article! I have just quit my day job and now I’m back to dreaming about making my artwork make a living for me. At 55 you won’t believe all ways I’ve “almost” made it and I’m still pursuing that dream. I’m registered on Etsy, but haven’t taken the plunge yet. Thanks for sharing so generously and helping those of us who dream of success such as yours. You are truly blessed to have found your way early in life and what a beautiful little girl you have! I have to share my daughter-in-laws blog site with you since you live in Portland. She is a fabulous photographer and I’m so proud of her!
