Hello friends,

Thank you for years of reading!  I’ve decided to take an indefinite blogging break.  I may be back, but for now keep tracking of me and my artwork here:

Hello friends,

I was just thinking I haven’t blogged in a long time and when I checked it was true!  After the busyness of summer art festivals, I stepped back from painting a bit in August.  Addie (my now 5 year old) and I made this summer checklist in June.  We love summer and wanted to make sure we got in all our favorite things, but also balance it with finding the laziness of summer.  We did it!

Addie started full day pre-k this fall which has been a big adjustment to all of us.  It was with such nervousness that she started, and now, a couple weeks in, she loves it.  It has been really nice for me to start getting a consistent schedule to work instead of a couple hours here and there and working late into the night.  My first couple of weeks found me organizing the studio, hanging and picking up shows in Seattle, working on a brand new website, and starting a new collection of greeted notecards. This year my goal is to try leading a little bit more balanced life between work, family, and health.  It’s hard.  Most days it is not balanced, but I’m trying to be okay with that too.

Thank you much for all your support – hope to be posting more regularly and will have some new things to show soon!

Best,

Rachel

Addie and I took advantage of a unusually beautiful day in Portland today – it was in the 80’s!  We spent the entire day outside watercolor painting, filled the pool and had a picnic with friends.  Bring on summer, we are ready!

Jon and I have been working the last few weeks on a beautiful new catalog with all my cards and prints as I venture into more wholesaling and working with reps.  One of the pictures shown above taken by the talented Cara Denison for the catalog.  Original painting sales have been down this last year, but cards and prints way up.  We’ve been adding more single cards, boxed sets and 11 x 14 print designs. I love what I do so much and I’m excited that this coming year I’ll have more time to work on a new watercolor series.   Other exciting happenings – starting some rough drafts of a children’s book.  Fingers crossed.  I’ll keep you posted.

Happy spring.

My daughter’s preschool is having an online auction this week through Sunday, April 7th.  Over 120 items donated by families in the school and business in our community!  Check it out – lots of great deals – and we are happy to ship if you aren’t in the area.  I’ve donated artwork and there are gift certificates, house cleaning, trip to the coast, and so much more.  Check it out and thank you for the help supporting our school!

I’m happy to be in the save the date video for Art of Love – mark your calendars and come out to support this great organization in June!

Chris West, the person behind the making of this film is going to do a longer video with the footage he shot of me and the family later in the fall.  I was super nervous to talk and be filmed, but Chris was great.  Jon also got to help out during the interview.  Hee, hee.
